UPR Info has a series of inter-related Programmes to promote the universality of the UPR process and to support a holistic engagement of all stakeholders:
- Pre-Sessions: the largest CSO platform for human rights advocacy in the world. Organised three times a year, these international conferences are an integral part of the UPR process and provide CSO with the opportunity to brief State delegations on the human rights situation in the States under Review. UPR Info pre-sessions strengthen the voice of civil society actors to allow them make a difference in an otherwise State-led mechanism.
- In-country Programme: the effective implementation of UPR recommendations is vital to realise its goal. UPR Info designed a Follow-up Programme to work with civil society and other stakeholders to help them monitor implementation.
- Enhancing State’s Capacities: our organisation works closely with government stakeholders to support their knowledge and engagement with the UPR.
- Support: UPR Info aims to bring to UPR to the national level by engaging through different media with grassroots CSOs, keeping them updated so they can use this information in their advocacy activities.
The intrinsic design of the UPR mechanism – a five year cycle, broad modalities and multiple stakeholders- demands constant monitoring at all levels to ensure its correct functioning. Through our impartial and inclusive activities, UPR Info remains at the forefront of this monitoring.
