Saint-Saphorin is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Vaud, located on the shore of Lake Geneva, in the district of Lavaux-Oron.HistorySaint-Saphorin is first mentioned in 1138 as de Sancto Sufforiano.GeographySaint-Saphorin has an area, of 0.89km2. Of this area, 0.5km2 or 56.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.1km2 or 11.2% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.27km2 or 30.3% is settled .Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 11.2% and transportation infrastructure made up 18.0%. while parks, green belts and sports fields made up 1.1%. Out of the forested land, 9.0% of the total land area is heavily forested and 2.2% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees.
