Pompaples is a municipality in Switzerland in the canton of Vaud, located in the district of Morges.HistoryPompaples is first mentioned in 1049 as Pons Papuli.GeographyPompaples has an area, of 4.45km2. Of this area, 3.14km2 or 70.6% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.83km2 or 18.7% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.42km2 or 9.4% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.03km2 or 0.7% is either rivers or lakes and 0.02km2 or 0.4% is unproductive land.Of the built-up area, housing and buildings made up 3.6%, and transportation infrastructure made up 4.9%. Of the forested land, 14.2% of the total land area is heavily forested, and 4.5% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 57.5% is used for growing crops, 11.5% is pasture, and 1.6% is used for orchards or vine crops.
