Penthaz is a municipality in the district of Gros-de-Vaud in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.HistoryPenthaz is first mentioned in 1011 as Penta.GeographyPenthaz has an area, of 3.83km2. Of this area, 2.57km2 or 67.1% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.52km2 or 13.6% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.67km2 or 17.5% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.03km2 or 0.8% is either rivers or lakes and 0.07km2 or 1.8% is unproductive land.Of the built up area, industrial buildings made up 1.6% of the total area while housing and buildings made up 8.9% and transportation infrastructure made up 5.5%. Power and water infrastructure as well as other special developed areas made up 1.3% of the area Out of the forested land, 12.0% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.6% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 61.1% is used for growing crops and 5.7% is pastures.
