Oron-la-Ville is a small town and former municipality in the district of Lavaux-Oron in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. The municipalities of Bussigny-sur-Oron, Châtillens, Chesalles-sur-Oron, Ecoteaux, Oron-la-Ville, Oron-le-Châtel, Palézieux, Les Tavernes, Les Thioleyres and Vuibroye merged on 1 January 2012 into the new municipality of Oron.HistoryOron-la-Ville is first mentioned about 280 as Uromago. In 1018 it was mentioned as Auronum.GeographyOron-la-Ville has an area, of 3.1km2. Of this area, 2.06km2 or 66.5% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.39km2 or 12.6% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.59km2 or 19.0% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.02km2 or 0.6% is either rivers or lakes and 0.01km2 or 0.3% is unproductive land.Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 11.9% and transportation infrastructure made up 4.8%. Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests. Of the agricultural land, 50.6% is used for growing crops and 13.2% is pastures, while 2.6% is used for orchards or vine crops. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.
