euforia is an independent, youth-driven social business. We reach out to empower and connect people to tackle global challenges through local commitment.
The challenge – The present and future costs of global challenges such as climate change, poverty or racism pose serious threats to humanity. There is no more time to be lost, everyone needs to get involved now in order to design innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.
The problem – Born in the era of globalization, youth, the leaders of tomorrow, have an important role to play in this process. Unfortunately, although 70-80% of youth would like to get involved in building a more sustainable future, only 10-30% are actually doing so (opinion polls by Ipsos & EU). This means that an incredible potential for societal development is being wasted at present.
The causes – euforia has identified three major obstacles to a larger involvement of youth:
Youth are cynical: The way we are being informed about global challenges, we are systematically discouraged from imagining that we as young people could actually make any difference.
Youth are passive: We do not know where and how we can get involved and lack adequate support and incentives to take initiative to actually find out what we could do.
Committing to a social or environmental cause is not cool: The utility, importance and “coolness” of youth involvement are not appropriately recognized by youth and society as a whole.
The solution – euforia uses viral peer-to-peer marketing and non-formal education in order to mobilize the untapped potential of our generation. We offer young people a platform to explore, develop and connect their changemaking skills:
Empower youth: We train and mobilize committed youth to show cynical and passive youth that our involvement is not just possible but also important, fun and effective in addressing global challenges.
Activate youth: We connect initiatives that offer concrete opportunities to make a difference with youth and train youth to design and launch their own initiatives to take up global challenges locally.
Rebranding youth commitment: We use provocative youth language, videos, social media and fun activities to promote and valorize the voluntary commitment of youth as “the cool thing to do!”
