KKB AG is a holding company for water-, wind- and solar-power plants. The company acquires ready-to-build or existing power plants and operates them. Typical take-over objects are small power stations producing between 200kW and 15MW in Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Norway. KKB is structured along corresponding country holdings, which own the respective project companies. The company supervises the construction and operation of the installations, organises, if required, the financing, makes operational improvements and is responsible for the financial control and reporting of the group.

KKB’s ambition is to become a leading player in the European niche market for electricity production from renewable sources. The company’s activities are governed by an original growth strategy.

To minimise risks in individual markets or sectors, KKB diversifies across countries and technologies. Solar energy should in future contribute around 20% of the revenues, with hydro electricity and wind power each accounting for 40% of the turnover. In the next few years KKB will be concentrating on the Swiss, French German, Italian and Norwegian markets. The stated goal is for no single country to account for more than 40% of the turnover, thereby reaching a critical mass across the board.

Operations in the German, Italian and Norwegian markets started in Spring 2014 through their established local subsidiaries. KKB is also targeting existing projects or those that have reached the construction stage in these new markets. Investments are confined to water and solar plants up to a capacity of 10MW per plant and to onshore wind farms up to a capacity of 15 MW.

Selected investments in mature technologies will give KKB a power-plant portfolio with an installed capacity of 300MW and an output of around 720GWh by 2020. To complement further acquisitions, KKB seeks to benefit from potential synergies and thus improve its operational excellence.
