Vouvry is a municipality in the district of Monthey in the canton of Valais in Switzerland.HistoryVouvry is first mentioned in 1018 as Vobreium and Wovregium.GeographyVouvry has an area, of 33.5km2. Of this area, 12.13km2 or 36.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 12.88km2 or 38.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.97km2 or 5.9% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.45km2 or 1.3% is either rivers or lakes and 6.05km2 or 18.1% is unproductive land.Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 2.7% and transportation infrastructure made up 1.8%. Out of the forested land, 34.8% of the total land area is heavily forested and 2.1% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 12.4% is used for growing crops and 2.2% is pastures and 20.5% is used for alpine pastures. Of the water in the municipality, 0.4% is in lakes and 0.9% is in rivers and streams.
