Vex is a municipality and capital of the district of Hérens in the canton of Valais in Switzerland.GeographyVex has an area, of 13km2. Of this area, 4.17km2 or 32.1% is used for agricultural purposes, while 6.17km2 or 47.5% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.71km2 or 13.2% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.07km2 or 0.5% is either rivers or lakes and 0.87km2 or 6.7% is unproductive land.Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 7.2% and transportation infrastructure made up 4.8%. Out of the forested land, 38.6% of the total land area is heavily forested and 7.7% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 0.2% is used for growing crops and 18.3% is pastures, while 2.5% is used for orchards or vine crops and 11.0% is used for alpine pastures. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.
