Geschichte

The Espionne is a band enjoying their time in the studio. This is clearly audible on their new EP Oceans And Era. Be it the synth-, guitar- and drum-sounds, nothing feels as though the first best preset has been used. The love for details in their sound can be heard time and time again. Even after listening to the EP multiple times, new details can be discovered.
The band from Lucerne stays true to its style, but still manages to redefine it. Alternative Pop meets Synth Pop and subtle Math Rock elements are interspersed, to create the trade mark sound of The Espionne. Oceans And Era is less spherical but more driving as the 2015 released album In Colour. The sound became Synth-heavy, the guitars are less dominant and the vocals play a bigger part.
The single Waves RolI In does not only create associations with the ocean because of its name and sound but also with regard to the text where breaking up static and deadlocked situations is the central point. The Espionne uses the ocean as a symbol for constant changes and dynamics accompanying us throughout the whole EP; from texts to the artwork and even the title itself. A cleverly selected metaphor from a band distinguishing themselves because of their dynamic and unspent music.
