The TASIS story began over a half-century ago, when M. Crist Fleming fulfilled her dream of establishing an American boarding school in the heart of Europe. Today, her vision lives on.

The Academic Program at TASIS has preparation for university study as its primary goal. TASIS offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, the Advanced Placement (AP) Program, and English-as-an-Additional-Language (EAL) content courses.

Our enviable location, nestled on a hillside above Lake Lugano in sunny southern Switzerland, allows our students the opportunity for exceptional travel experiences. Each fall and spring semester includes a week of Academic Travel, taking students to diverse places. In January, Ski Week brings students and faculty together for a relaxing time on the slopes. Weekend travel to places nearer to home – skiing in Zermatt, museums in Verona, shopping in Lucerne – gives students a chance to explore Europe. Our Founder believed that exposure to other cultures was the cornerstone to a whole education, and TASIS continues to champion this idea.

Our students come from 50 countries around the world and speak dozens of languages. Many have multiple interests, and TASIS encourages students to explore their curiosities. Play a sport. Write a song. Help build a house for Habitat for Humanity. Learn to cook. Do yoga. Dance in the sunshine, or in the rain. TASIS students are truly well-rounded people, inspired by their fellow students, their teachers, and their own potential. TASIS is truly a remarkable place.
