Tannay is a municipality in the district of Nyon in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.HistoryTannay is first mentioned in 1390 as Taney.GeographyTannay has an area, of 1.8km2. Of this area, 0.85km2 or 46.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.25km2 or 13.7% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.71km2 or 39.0% is settled (buildings or roads).Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 27.5% and transportation infrastructure made up 9.9%. Power and water infrastructure as well as other special developed areas made up 1.1% of the area Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests. Of the agricultural land, 22.0% is used for growing crops and 13.7% is pastures, while 11.0% is used for orchards or vine crops.The municipality was part of the old Nyon District until it was dissolved on 31 August 2006, and Tannay became part of the new district of Nyon.The municipality is located on a terrace overlooking Lake Geneva, between Geneva-Saint-Cergue and Geneva-Lausanne roads.Coat of armsThe blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Per fess: 1.
