The Swiss Junior Water Prize is an award for young students between 15 - 20 years old who have conducted excellent projects related to water and sanitation
The Swiss Junior Water Prize aims to incentivise youth to grow an interest in water aspects and to foster the exchange between promising young talents and professionals in the Swiss water sector
The Swiss Junior Water Prize (Swiss-JWP) is an initiative of the Swiss Toilet Organisation (STO) and the Swiss Water Partnership (SWP). The SWP is the host of the prize; the STO is the National Organizer appointed by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), which entitles the winner of the Swiss-JWP to participate in the international contest Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP), organised by SIWI in Stockholm, as Swiss finalist.
The projects eligible for the Swiss-JWP are selected from those ones submitted to the national science contest Swiss Youth in Science (SYiS). In a first stage, students register projects in all scientific areas by the end of October. Afterwards, several specialized committees in SYiS select and evaluate the projects in several steps, including an evaluation made by a Swiss-JWP specific jury, finishing with the National Final taking place at the end of April. The Swiss-JWP is presented in the award ceremony following the final, along with more than 30 special prizes granted at SYiS.
