Sulgen is a municipality in Weinfelden District in the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland.GeographySulgen has an area, of 9.13km2. Of this area, 6.12km2 or 67.0% is used for agricultural purposes, while 1.18km2 or 12.9% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.7km2 or 18.6% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.03km2 or 0.3% is either rivers or lakes and 0.07km2 or 0.8% is unproductive land.Of the built up area, industrial buildings made up 10.1% of the total area while housing and buildings made up 2.5% and transportation infrastructure made up 0.4%. while parks, green belts and sports fields made up 4.9%. Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests. Of the agricultural land, 53.2% is used for growing crops, while 13.8% is used for orchards or vine crops. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.In 1996 the municipalities of Götighofen and Hessenreuti merged into Sulgen.DemographicsSulgen has a population of, 21.5% of the population are foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years (1997–2007) the population has changed at a rate of 2.2%. Most of the population speaks German(88.3%), with Albanian being second most common ( 5.6%) and Italian being third ( 1.7%)., the gender distribution of the population was 49.3% male and 50.7% female. The population was made up of 1,310 Swiss men (38.4% of the population), and 373 (10.9%) non-Swiss men. There were 1,369 Swiss women (40.1%), and 359 (10.5%) non-Swiss women.
