Sufers is a municipality in the Viamala Region in the Swiss canton of Graubünden.HistorySufers is first mentioned in 831 as Subere.GeographySufers has an area, of 34.6km2. Of this area, 13.4% is used for agricultural purposes, while 23.8% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.2% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (61.6%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).Before 2017, the municipality was located in the Rheinwald sub-district, of the Hinterrhein district, after 2017 it was part of the Viamala Region. It is a Haufendorf (an irregular, unplanned and quite closely packed village, built around a central square).A dam on the Hinterrhein river was built in 1962 and forms the reservoir Sufnersee.DemographicsSufers has a population of., 3.1% of the population was made up of foreign nationals.
