Wengen's Church of England church opened in January 1928. Since then, tens of thousands of English-speaking people from all over the world have worshipped there, as have generations of local people. Situated in the beautiful Jungfrau region of Switzerland

Geschichte

Situated in the beautiful Jungfrau region of Switzerland, many visit the church to reflect, pray, seek the chaplain's help, and hear the good news of Jesus Christ.

'The English Church' – as it is known locally – was built and is maintained by the Intercontinental Church Society ('ICS'). Thanks largely to the generosity of a trust, we have been able during 2002 to make urgent repairs to the heating, exterior walls and drainage, improve safety by installing a fire exit and lightning conductor, and purchase pew Bibles.

Further repair work is necessary, and we would like to make it both a more attractive place in which to worship – whilst maintaining the building's essential simplicity. The repairs and possible improvements are shown opposite. ICS depends solely on donations to enable its ministry, so the works will be paid for through this appeal. Neither ICS nor the Church of England receives financial assistance from governments for the upkeep of buildings!
