Saint-Maurice è un comune svizzero del Canton Vallese di 4.402 abitanti. Dal 2013 ha accorpato il territorio del precedente comune di Mex.StoriaNota nell'antichità con il nome di Agaunum, Saint-Maurice è citata nel resoconto dell'itinerario di Sigerico di Canterbury che, attorno al 990 si recò a Roma per ricevere dalle mani di papa Giovanni XV il pallio; tale percorso nei secoli successivi sarebbe stato chiamato Via Francigena.
