Rodersdorf is a municipality in the district of Dorneck in the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland, on the border to Alsace, France.HistoryRodersdorf is first mentioned in 1226 as Ratolsdorf. In 1349 it was mentioned as Roderstorff.GeographyRodersdorf has an area, of 5.34km2. Of this area, 2.9km2 or 54.3% is used for agricultural purposes, while 1.63km2 or 30.5% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.76km2 or 14.2% is settled (buildings or roads) and 0.01km2 or 0.2% is unproductive land.Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 8.8% and transportation infrastructure made up 3.7%. while parks, green belts and sports fields made up 1.5%. Out of the forested land, 28.7% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.9% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 41.9% is used for growing crops and 9.9% is pastures, while 2.4% is used for orchards or vine crops.The municipality is located in the Dorneck district, in the upper Leimen valley.
