Restaurant Murtaröl in Plaun da Lej is one of the most popular gourmet places of StMoritz area and whole Engadine Valley, Switzerland.
The Ristorante Murtaröl was built around 1880 as a boarding house and stagecoach stop on the Maloja Pass and bought by Edoardo Giovanoli, (the grandfather of the owner - Antonio Walther) from Soglio, in 1951 and is still owned by their family Walther.
Up until the year 1984 the boarding house Murtarol was run as a summer operation (fishing season). After this the boarding house Murtarol was expanded into a yearround operation and continued on as a successful seafood restaurant. Since 1995 Murtarol was purchased by the Aris Plaun da Lej who sells marine fish and shellfish at the fish market in Milan. On the menu fresh fish is offered daily from 12.00 – 22.00.
The restaurant offers authentic traditional food and is known for its Fish Fondue, seafood and other fish and meat dishes. Vegetarian options are also available in the wide range.
