Reigoldswil is a municipality in the district of Waldenburg in the canton of Basel-Country in Switzerland.HistoryReigoldswil is first mentioned in 1152 as Rigoltswilre.GeographyReigoldswil has an area, of 9.25km2. Of this area, 4.27km2 or 46.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 4.17km2 or 45.1% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.75km2 or 8.1% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.01km2 or 0.1% is either rivers or lakes.Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 4.2% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.8%. Out of the forested land, 41.5% of the total land area is heavily forested and 3.6% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 5.8% is used for growing crops and 32.9% is pastures, while 5.0% is used for orchards or vine crops and 2.5% is used for alpine pastures. All the water in the municipality is in lakes.The municipality is located in the Waldenburg district, in the far Frenken valley. The current village grew out of three separate medieval villages, in the 18th Century.
