Peyres-Possens is a former municipality in the district of Gros-de-Vaud in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. The municipalities of Chapelle-sur-Moudon, Correvon, Denezy, Martherenges, Neyruz-sur-Moudon, Peyres-Possens, Saint-Cierges, Thierrens and Chanéaz merged on 1 January 2013 into the new municipality of Montanaire.HistoryPeyres is first mentioned in 1200 as Pairi. Possens was mentioned in 1230 as Pussens.GeographyPeyres-Possens had an area, of 1.9km2. Of this area, 0.94km2 or 49.0% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.76km2 or 39.6% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.19km2 or 9.9% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.01km2 or 0.5% is either rivers or lakes.Of the built up area, industrial buildings made up 2.6% of the total area while housing and buildings made up 1.6% and transportation infrastructure made up 1.6%. Power and water infrastructure as well as other special developed areas made up 4.2% of the area Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests. Of the agricultural land, 35.4% is used for growing crops and 12.5% is pastures. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.
