Miniball is a gamma-ray detector array based at ISOLDE-CERN for use with low-intensity radioactive ion beams.

Geschichte

MINIBALL is a compact array of segmented high purity germanium detectors for the study of gamma rays, and is suited for work on low intensity radioactive-beams. It was developed by physicists from around Europe and is available for use by the nuclear-structure physics community.

MINIBALL is usually located at CERN in Switzerland and is used with the ISOLDE radioactive ion beam facility and the HIE-ISOLDE post-accelerator. However its mobility allows it to be used in other experimental setups.
