Les Montets is a municipality in the district of Broye, in the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. In 2004 the municipality was created through the merger of Aumont, Frasses, Granges-de-Vesin and Montet.HistoryLes Montets was created in 2004.GeographyLes Montets has an area, of 10.3km2. Of this area, 6.15km2 or 59.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while 3km2 or 29.1% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.14km2 or 11.1% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.01km2 or 0.1% is either rivers or lakes and 0.01km2 or 0.1% is unproductive land.Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 4.9% and transportation infrastructure made up 4.6%. Out of the forested land, 26.5% of the total land area is heavily forested and 2.6% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 45.5% is used for growing crops and 13.1% is pastures, while 1.1% is used for orchards or vine crops. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.DemographicsLes Montets has a population of., 14.0% of the population are resident foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years (2000–2010) the population has changed at a rate of 17.4%. Migration accounted for 17.8%, while births and deaths accounted for 1.9%.Most of the population speaks French (84.1%) as their first language, German is the second most common (6.2%) and Portuguese is the third (3.1%).
