Geschichte

Hasle is a municipality in the district of Entlebuch in the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland. Hasle is part of the UNESCO Entlebuch Biosphere Reserve since 2001.HistoryHasle is first mentioned in 1236 as Hasile.GeographyHasle has an area of 40.3km2. Of this area, 50.6% is used for agricultural purposes, while 39.6% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 2.9% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (6.9%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains)., 39.58% of the total land area was forested. Of the agricultural land, 50.12% is used for farming or pastures, while 0.5% is used for orchards or vine crops. Of the settled areas, 0.87% is covered with buildings, 0.05% is industrial, 0.22% is classed as special developments, 0.12% is parks or greenbelts and 1.59% is transportation infrastructure. It consists of the linear village of Hasle and the pilgrimage/ski resort of Heiligkreuz on the right side of the Emme. Over the last 10 years the population has decreased at a rate of -5.1%. Most of the population speaks German (96.4%), with Albanian being second most common ( 1.9%) and Italian being third ( 0.5%).
