Grellingen is a municipality in the district of Laufen in the canton of Basel-Country in Switzerland.HistoryGrellingen is first mentioned in 1274 as Grellingen.GeographyGrellingen has an area, of 3.31km2. Of this area, 0.69km2 or 20.8% is used for agricultural purposes, while 1.89km2 or 57.1% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.64km2 or 19.3% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.11km2 or 3.3% is either rivers or lakes.Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 12.1% and transportation infrastructure made up 3.6%. Power and water infrastructure as well as other special developed areas made up 1.5% of the area while parks, green belts and sports fields made up 1.2%. Out of the forested land, 54.4% of the total land area is heavily forested and 2.7% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 5.4% is used for growing crops and 11.5% is pastures, while 3.9% is used for orchards or vine crops. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.The municipality is located in the Laufen district.
