Granges-Paccot is a municipality in the district of Sarine in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland.HistoryGranges-Paccot is first mentioned in 1317 as Grangiarum ante la mota dicti castri. The municipality was formerly known by its German name Zur Schüren, however, that name is no longer used.GeographyGranges-Paccot has an area, of 4km2. Of this area, 1.82km2 or 45.5% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.61km2 or 15.3% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.24km2 or 31.0% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.31km2 or 7.8% is either rivers or lakes.Of the built up area, industrial buildings made up 3.8% of the total area while housing and buildings made up 11.5% and transportation infrastructure made up 11.5%. Power and water infrastructure as well as other special developed areas made up 2.3% of the area while parks, green belts and sports fields made up 2.0%. Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests. Of the agricultural land, 31.8% is used for growing crops and 12.3% is pastures, while 1.5% is used for orchards or vine crops.
