Grancy is a municipality of the canton of Vaud in Switzerland, located in the district of Morges.HistoryGrancy is first mentioned in 1141 as Granci. In 1202 it was mentioned as Grantie.GeographyGrancy has an area, of 5.69km2. Of this area, 3.87km2 or 68.0% is used for agricultural purposes, while 1.5km2 or 26.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.27km2 or 4.7% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.01km2 or 0.2% is either rivers or lakes and 0.01km2 or 0.2% is unproductive land.Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 3.0% and transportation infrastructure made up 1.6%. Out of the forested land, 24.8% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.6% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 59.1% is used for growing crops and 7.6% is pastures, while 1.4% is used for orchards or vine crops. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.The municipality was part of the Cossonay District until it was dissolved on 31 August 2006, and Grancy became part of the new district of Morges.The municipality is located along the banks of the Veyron river.
