A movement by overseas Malaysians to support to Bersih 2.0‘s mission to bring about free and fair elections and democratic reforms in Malaysia, and to defend the fundamental human rights of all in Malaysia.

Geschichte

Global Bersih is the international network and international advocacy arm of Bersih 2.0, a coalition of almost a hundred Malaysian NGOs. Global Bersih is registered in Geneva as a non-profit association.

Born of a spontaneous outpouring of worldwide support for the demands of the Bersih 2.0 rallies in Malaysia 2011 and 2012, Global Bersih’s primary purpose is to support Malaysian civil society in its efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s maturing democracy.

To this end, Global Bersih seeks to render audible to the international community the voices and stories of ordinary Malaysians and of Malaysian civil society, as well as to enrich discussions of Malaysian issues, both in Malaysia and abroad, with the perspectives and experiences of a global community.

All (former) Malaysians and friends of Malaysia in support with these aims and vision are invited to join the Global Bersih community and to consider participating in advocacy efforts, which focus on electoral reform, human rights and strengthening institutions.
