The Fondation Marisa Sophie is a foundation with focus on pediatric care.

Geschichte

Marisa was a little girl full of life.

She loved to play with the ball, to laugh and giggle, to blow kisses and to wave her hand, and to steel her dad’s shoes. She was in perfect health.

Until the day where she got sick.

The infection progressed creeping and unnoticed for a few days by the medical doctors, until the moment where nothing was possible to save her life. It was too late. This should not have happened!

Unfortunately and despite of all progress in medicine, children in their early life still die from infectious diseases.

Life hangs by a thin thread: this is a fact we often ignore, until the unthinkable happens.

Paediatric care is largely underdeveloped, because of lack of interest and funding: the efficacy and safety of more than 50 % of medicines commonly used have not been sufficiently tested. The diagnostic tests, the therapeutic means, the guidelines and directives have to be developed and controlled.

In her memory, to give a sense to her life, and to prevent the death of other children her parents, Francesca and Peter, decided to create a foundation together with the doctors Dr. Marie-Hélène Perez and Dr. Jacques Cotting, to improve paediatric care, in particular emergency care and intensive care and in 2010 the Fondation Marisa Sophie was brought to life.

Today, Marisa`s death saved the life of other children. Help us that more babies and children will have their next birthday.
