Geschichte Sorens is a municipality in the district of Gruyère in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland.HistorySorens is first mentioned around 974-75 as Sotringus. The municipality was formerly known by its German name Soring, however, that name is no longer used.GeographySorens has an area, of 8.7km2. Of this area, 5.64km2 or 64.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while 2.32km2 or 26.6% is forested. Out of the forested land, 24.4% of the total land area is heavily forested and 2.2% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees.
