Sementina is a former municipality in the district of Bellinzona in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.On 2 April 2017 the former municipalities of Camorino, Claro, Giubiasco, Gnosca, Gorduno, Gudo, Moleno, Monte Carasso, Pianezzo, Preonzo and Sant'Antonio merged into the municipality of Bellinzona.GeographySementina has an area, of 8.25km2. Of this area, 1.61km2 or 19.5% is used for agricultural purposes, while 5.56km2 or 67.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.84km2 or 10.2% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.21km2 or 2.5% is either rivers or lakes and 0.26km2 or 3.2% is unproductive land.Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 6.3% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.1%. Out of the forested land, 62.5% of the total land area is heavily forested and 3.4% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 8.0% is used for growing crops, while 5.2% is used for orchards or vine crops and 6.3% is used for alpine pastures. All the water in the municipality is flowing water. Of the unproductive areas, 2.2% is unproductive vegetation.
