Geschichte
Forest School is derived from Scandinavian philosophies of teaching in the outdoor environment.

Forest School is an inspirational process - children achieve and develop confidence through hands-on learning.
It is based upon early childhood principles of freedom in play, creativity, socialisation skills and emotional stability.
It is about facilitating ‘safe’ risk taking.
An enriched and extended outdoor curriculum engages all children- able and special needs children.

Gardner’s proposed theories of multiple intelligences are used to consider the value of Forest School in supporting the more able learner:

•	Kinaesthetic‐ individuals who learn by doing 
	•	Linguistic‐ individuals who learn through discussion, and enjoy written and spoken language 
       •       Logical - individuals who are methodical and are often good at problem solving
       •       Interpersonal‐ individuals who relate well together and learn best through social interactions 
	•	Intrapersonal‐ individuals who have a strong sense of self and understand their needs 
	•	Musical‐ individuals learn through sound and music 
         •     Visual/Spatial individuals who are often perceived as creative, these learners usually have a good sense of direction i.e. good map reading etc.
