Info Camera Arts is a BA in Visual Communication at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences – School of Art and Design. Post-photography and contemporary image practices in the contexts of art, design and society. Geschichte Artistic and applied photographic practices and image/media culture are in a constant flux due to changing conditions of local and global contexts. Media convergence and digital culture has altered the production methods, purposes, uses and reception of photographic images and visual communication. Due to the technologies that determine mass production and global distribution of photographic images, specific aspects of the medium of photography are losing their relevance and are replaced by new qualities: rather than adhering to technical and formal criteria, the quality of an image is now arguably more about the intention, the evolutionary context, the production of sense and significance, and interactive engagement and reception in a variety of contexts. The Camera Arts program sees itself as a laboratory that experiments and reflects on these changes in and around photographic media. It is leveraging the potential of post-phootgrahy and investigating innovative and intelligent strategies of new photographic and visual practices. We are interested in the context in which photography and other image-generating procedures emerge and are used. We look at the motives behind image production and we foster the creative dialogue between creator, the image and other mediums and the recipient. We explore the role of photography in public sphere both offline and online. We connect visual storytelling with social issues and human relationships and their stories. We investigate analogue and digital strategies including graphic design, motion, film, space, audio and online interactivity. www.cameraarts.ch
