Geschichte Agile Wind Power (AWP) is developer of "Vertical Sky®", the first large, economically scalable vertical-axis wind turbine for reliable and commercial power generation. Vertical-axis wind turbines provide various advantages. But in the past, the technology was costlier, showed lower performance, could not be easily scaled, and was therefore not economically viable. Agile Wind Power examined the influence and effects of a permanent and continuous pitch control of the rotor blades during the rotation of the vertical rotor. Vertical Sky® wind turbines stand out due to their pitch control, which is one of AWP's proprietary technology. The individual 360° positioning for each rotor blade, as well as the special design of the system, leads to higher performance and decreased load on the system structure. This results in less use of material and therefore higher profitability. This makes the economic scaling of vertical-axis wind turbines possible for the first time. With Vertical Sky® a new chapter on the successful application of wind energy will be written. AWP’s innovative wind turbines offer several significant benefits and added value. Some advantages are: Almost no audible emissions due to slow rotation speed, higher safety for birds and bats thanks to the vertical rotor and a calm visual appearance and good integration with the landscape. No heavy transport is needed thanks to smaller and lighter components, and no pneu cranes are needed due to a self-construction system. Space utilization is better which also enables a compaction of wind farms. The first products, Vertical Sky® A32 and A45 (nominal capacity of 750 kilowatts and 1.5 megawatt) are perfectly positioned for decentralized power generation in which less environmental impacts are highly relevant (settlement areas). The technology can also be employed in even bigger wind turbines. Vertical Sky® turbines are competitive with conventional wind technology.
