Deitingen is a municipality in the district of Wasseramt in the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland.HistoryDeitingen is first mentioned in 1244 as Teytingen. In 1252 it was mentioned as Tuetingen.GeographyDeitingen has an area, of 7.64km2. Of this area, 3.98km2 or 52.1% is used for agricultural purposes, while 1.71km2 or 22.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.9km2 or 24.9% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.03km2 or 0.4% is either rivers or lakes and 0.01km2 or 0.1% is unproductive land.Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 8.8% and transportation infrastructure made up 6.2%. Power and water infrastructure as well as other special developed areas made up 1.7% of the area while parks, green belts and sports fields made up 7.3%. Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests. Of the agricultural land, 44.0% is used for growing crops and 8.0% is pastures. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.The municipality is located in the Wasseramt district, along the Oesch river near the Aare river and the A1 motorway.
