Daillens is a municipality of the canton of Vaud in Switzerland, located in the district of Gros-de-Vaud.HistoryDaillens is first mentioned in 1109 as Dallens.GeographyDaillens has an area, of 5.52km2. Of this area, 3.59km2 or 65.0% is used for agricultural purposes, while 1.1km2 or 19.9% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.79km2 or 14.3% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.01km2 or 0.2% is either rivers or lakes.Of the built up area, industrial buildings made up 2.7% of the total area while housing and buildings made up 4.2% and transportation infrastructure made up 5.3%. Power and water infrastructure as well as other special developed areas made up 2.0% of the area Out of the forested land, 17.4% of the total land area is heavily forested and 2.5% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 50.9% is used for growing crops and 13.2% is pastures.
