Corbeyrier is a municipality in Switzerland in the canton of Vaud, located in the district of Aigle. It became a municipality in 1718.HistoryCorbeyrier is first mentioned in 1261 as de Cubiriaco.GeographyCorbeyrier has an area, of 21.99km2. Of this area, 7.97km2 or 36.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 11.96km2 or 54.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.5km2 or 2.3% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.06km2 or 0.3% is either rivers or lakes and 1.51km2 or 6.9% is unproductive land.Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 1.0% and transportation infrastructure made up 1.2%. Out of the forested land, 47.0% of the total land area is heavily forested and 2.9% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 0.0% is used for growing crops and 5.0% is pastures and 30.8% is used for alpine pastures. All the water in the municipality is in lakes. Of the unproductive areas, 4.6% is unproductive vegetation and 2.2% is too rocky for vegetation.The municipality is located in the Aigle district, on the right bank of Rhone river. The municipality stretches from the upper end of the vineyard of Yvorne to the alpine pastures of the Eau-Froide and Petit-Hongrin valleys.
