Kerzers is a municipality in the district of See in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. Its French name is Chiètres.HistoryKerzers is first mentioned in 926 as Cartris. In 1153 it was mentioned as Kercers.GeographyKerzers has an area of. Of this area, 8.38km2 or 68.5% is used for agricultural purposes, while 1.81km2 or 14.8% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.95km2 or 15.9% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.07km2 or 0.6% is either rivers or lakes and 0.01km2 or 0.1% is unproductive land.Of the built up area, industrial buildings made up 2.0% of the total area while housing and buildings made up 6.9% and transportation infrastructure made up 4.8%. while parks, green belts and sports fields made up 1.2%. Out of the forested land, 13.7% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.1% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 62.1% is used for growing crops and 5.0% is pastures, while 1.5% is used for orchards or vine crops.
