Chavannes-le-Chêne is a municipality in the district of Jura-Nord Vaudois of the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.HistoryChavannes-le-Chêne is first mentioned in 1334 as Chavanes.GeographyChavannes-le-Chêne has an area, of 4km2. Of this area, 3.3km2 or 82.9% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.45km2 or 11.3% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.23km2 or 5.8% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.01km2 or 0.3% is either rivers or lakes and 0.01km2 or 0.3% is unproductive land.Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 3.3% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.0%. Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests. Of the agricultural land, 73.1% is used for growing crops and 8.8% is pastures.
