As recommended in the Guardian newspaper - Chalet Auriane is a luxury ski chalet in the Swiss Alps and part of the Verbier 4 Valleys 400km ski area.
The chalet was completed in January 2009 to a traditional design but with a luxury contemporary interior. Although a large footprint, the geothermal heating ensures it is always cosy inside. The chalet went into the Chic Chalet Guide in 2009 but was further upgraded by UK interior designer Hugh Berry in 2011.
All 5 bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms but the master bedroom is the most fabulous with its locally made grand tree house inspired bed and amazing views of the mountains and valleys from the shower and bath.
Its other advantages are an Apple TV system with a catalogue of 1000 movies, an outdoor hot tub with spectacular views, a large ski boot warmer, a live out couple who will look after you in the winter season, cook you a personalised breakfast and ensure your children, if you have them, get to eat their favourite meals at a more child friendly time if you want a separate adult dinner with wonderful wines. There is also a den area for children books, games and a Wii to put smiles on their faces when they want to come indoors. The kids can also play in the garden, building snowmen or igloos depending on their talents.
Wifi access and a computer are available for when the need to communicate arises or for those who juggle work and pleasure.
Before dinner you may want to warm up in the sauna or hamman before snuggling up in the fur throws by a roaring fire.
The chalet staff have a night off once a week, which is the perfect opportunity to grab pizzas or better still go out for dinner to try the local speciality of ‘le chapeau’ where you are presented with a plate of meats to cook on a ‘hat-shaped’ hot plate over oil burners with salad and chip side orders.
New year partying in the chalet is particularly memorable and the private balconies offer top views of firework displays.
The high guest return rate speaks volumes with guests coming from all over the world.
The chalet staff who have lived in the resort for 3 years are able to advise on outings, top ski instructors etc currently speak English, Dutch, Greek and some French.
