Bioley-Orjulaz is a municipality in the district of Gros-de-Vaud in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.HistoryOrjulaz is first mentioned in the 12th Century as Oriola. In 1516, Bioley-Orjulaz was mentioned as Biolley orjeux.GeographyBioley-Orjulaz has an area, of 3.11km2. Of this area, 2.19km2 or 70.4% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.55km2 or 17.7% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.33km2 or 10.6% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.02km2 or 0.6% is either rivers or lakes and 0.01km2 or 0.3% is unproductive land.Of the built up area, industrial buildings made up 1.9% of the total area while housing and buildings made up 2.9% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.9%. Power and water infrastructure as well as other special developed areas made up 2.9% of the area Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests. Of the agricultural land, 60.1% is used for growing crops and 8.7% is pastures, while 1.6% is used for orchards or vine crops.
