Action for Development is an NGO committed to improving lives in Afghanistan, providing access to health services and education to those most in need.

Geschichte

AfD is active in promoting health and education to empower communities towards self-sustained development.

Projects include:
- Comprehensive health care centres
- Doctor's training in reproductive health
- Midwifery training
- School for children with disabilities
- Back to school for street children

AfD has also been active in WASH projects with UNICEF and disaster response following landslides in Badakhshan.

History:

After decades of war, Afghanistan was a shattered country facing colossal challenges. This inspired the creation of the Bakhtar Development Foundation (BDF) in 2001 for community health projects.

Subsequently changing the name to BD Network (BDN), the NGO's practices went on to receive awards and recognition for extraordinary achievements.

In 2009, BDN started to embark on an international expansion and was registered in Geneva Switzerland in 2011. In 2015, the organization changed its name to Action for Development (AfD) to facilitate its globalization impact.
